Kindergarten through Grade 2
Mondays from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m.
Chorister Choir is for young singers in kindergarten through grade 2. In Chorister Choir we awaken the awareness and enjoyment of music and teach basic concepts of music and theology. Chorister Choir sings for worship several times during the year, and participates in the spring musical. Rehearsals begin with snack on the playground, and move indoors to the choir room at 4:15 p.m. Gretchen Ross is the assistant for this choir.
Grades 3 through 6
Tuesdays from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m.
Carol Choir is for boys and girls in grades 3 through 6. They sing for worship approximately once a month, and participate in the spring musical. Learning hymns is one emphasis of this choir, and the children are encouraged to earn a personalized copy of The Presbyterian Hymnal by participating in a hymn memorization program throughout the year. Gretchen Ross is the accompanist for this choir.
Grades 6-12
Sundays from 3:30-4:00 p.m.
Youth Choir meets on Sunday afternoons in conjunction with youth fellowship and Carillon Ringers. The rehearsal times move around a bit, depending on other activities that are occurring on Sunday afternoons. Youth Choir sings in worship approximately once a month, and is invited to join with the Chancel Choir (adults) several times throughout the year. Youth Choir also sings on Youth Sunday in August, and sometimes helps out with the spring musical.
Adults
Thursdays from 7:30-9:15 p.m.
The 50-voice Chancel Choir is the heart of Ladue Chapel’s music ministry. They lead in worship weekly at the 11:00 a.m. service (September through mid-June) and at both services on communion and festival Sundays. Each season the choir presents two cantatas with orchestral accompaniment. On December 20 they will sing Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. Palm Sunday, March 28, will feature Part II of G.F. Handel’s Messiah. In 2007, the choir was invited to sing at the Festival Jean Langlais in Paris, where they sang the principal morning mass at Notre-Dame Cathedral and a concert at St. Roch Church, in addition to concerts at Chartres Cathedral and other venues in Paris.
My life flows on in endless song, above earth’s lamentation,
I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation.
No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that Rock I’m clinging,
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing.
That hymn by Robert Lowry says it all! Membership is open to all adults who enjoy singing and service and fellowship opportunities.
Grade 3 through adult
No rehearsal!
On certain Sundays throughout the year, anyone from grade 3 through adult is invited to come and learn a simple anthem thirty minutes before the worship service, and then share it with the congregation. This is designed so that families with members in different choirs have an opportunity to sing together, and so that those who cannot commit to a regular rehearsal schedule can sing, too. The Family Choir sings approximately three times throughout the year.
Watch The Chapel Bell for announcements for the next time Family Choir will sing.
