Ladue Chapel is blessed to have the resources of several musical instruments which are used daily in rehearsal, teaching and worship.
The Memorial Organ was originally built by the Bosch Company of Germany and installed as a tracker organ in 1969. The instrument was rebuilt and modified by W. Zimmer & Sons of North Carolina in 1987. In 2002, the Wicks Organ Company of Highland, Illinois built a new console which was a generous gift of Mr. Donald Lambert.
The great and pedal division of the organ are located in the front chancel on either side of the window. The swell division is located on the east side of the chancel, and the choir division is located on the west side of the chancel. The gallery division, located in the balcony, is playable from the main console as well as from its own one-manual console in the balcony.
The organ contains nearly 3,200 pipes, ranging in length from ½” to 16’ long, comprising 59 ranks of pipes. Organ Specifications
The Möller Pipe Organ located in Woods Chapel contains five ranks of pipes and was installed in 1957.
The sanctuary piano is a Baldwin grand, and we have other pianos in the Choir Room, Fireside Room and Fellowship Hall. There is also a portable electric piano.
The one-manual, two stop harpsichord was crafted by local builder Peter Tkach.
Ladue Chapel is fortunate to have 6 ½ octaves of Schulmerich handbells, including the C2 (nicknamed “Charlie”) which weighs over 16 pounds. Additionally, the church’s 3 octaves of Whitechapel bells are played primarily by the Genesis I Ringers. The handbell ringers also have 4 ½ octaves of hand chimes at their disposal.
We also have a full range of Orff-Schulwerk percussion instruments (xylophones, metalophones and glockenspiels), as well as an amazing assortment of non-tuned percussion instruments (drums, tambourines, claves, maracas, etc.) Our newest acquisition is a pair of Yamaha pedal timpani.
