Dieter U. Heinzl is Associate Pastor for Faith Formation at Ladue Chapel. He has served Ladue Chapel since August 26, 2001. A native of Germany, Dieter has lived and worked in the United States since 1987. During his theological education, he was student pastor at Sunrise Beach Federated Church near Austin, Texas and pastoral assistant at Pilgrim Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Dieter received a Master’s degree from the University of Houston, a Master’s degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Dieter is married. His wife, the Rev. Renita Mercado Heinzl, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing, a Master’s degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and is currently the Director of Pastoral Care at a local hospital. They live with one parrot and two dogs, Sammy and Molly.
Dieter enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hiker, biker, kayaker and skier. When he is at home, he likes to cook, garden, read and spend as much quality time with Renita as possible.
Dieter’s responsibilities include leadership for Ladue Chapel’s Adult Education and Adult Programs as well as an advisory role for the Lee Institute. He will be leading in worship as well as in other church services and will be preaching several times a year. His other responsibilities include pastoral care, e-ministry, teaching in the DISCIPLE® program and serving as a member of Session. He is also an adjunct professor at Eden Theological Seminary.
