David Erwin joined Ladue Chapel’s ministry team as Director of Music Ministry in September 2005. David is a native of West Virginia and previously served as Minister of Music at the First Presbyterian Church, Greenwich, Connecticut, and as Director of Music Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Alexandria, Virginia.
David studied at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, from which he earned the Bachelor of Music (summa cum laude) and Master of Music (with distinction) degrees in Church Music, with organ as the principal instrument. While in graduate school, he was teaching assistant in the Organ Department, responsible for the instruction of all organ minors. In recent years he has continued his organ study in France with Marie-Louise Langlais.
At Ladue Chapel, David directs the Chorister Choir, the Carol Choir, the Youth Choir, the Chancel Choir, Genesis Ringers II, and Chapel Ringers, in addition to serving as organist. He also coordinates the Ladue Chapel Vocal Challenge and the concert series. David is a staff resource person to the Worship and Music Committee.
David serves on the executive board of the Saint Louis chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is a member of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra’s Community Partnership Advisory Board. He lives in Alton, Illinois, and in his spare time enjoys reading, travel, and taking care of his dog Tallis.
