We continue to support local and international agencies in the main areas of interest to the congregation: Children & Youth, Church Worldwide, Housing & Health, and Hunger. The commitment of the church is 20% of living donor contributions allocated by the committee. Half of that 20% is allocated to support our denomination.
We continue to explore new opportunities for the congregation to experience mission work first hand – Habitat for Humanity, Summer Interns working with local agencies each summer, Annual St. Louis CROP Hunger walk, working with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance – just to name a few.
Our mission intern program continues to be a life alerting experience for our youth. Interns spend the summer tutoring children, building homes, and assisting in various food bank operations. We continue to improve upon this unique program for our youth.
Our Ladue Chapel Food Bank operations continue to meet the needs of the hungry in the St. Louis area. Our food bank operation, through the work of 25 volunteers from our congregation, collects and distributes approximately 200,000 pounds of produce, deli and bread annually. Through our Communion Hunger offering, collected on the first Sunday of each month, we support the work of Isaiah 58, Chapel for the Exceptional, Hosea House and Harris House. In addition, the annual Turkey Drive collects hundreds of turkeys and hams that are then distributed to the agencies over the holiday season.
We continue to support our denomination with special offerings: the Christmas Joy offering raises funds which support schools committed to underserved populations; the Board of Pensions provides support to retired and active church workers; One Great Hour of Sharing raises funds to support Presbyterian disaster relief, hunger programs and self-development programs.
We are excited and thankful to our congregation for their generous contribution of time and money.
