Youth Ministries
STUDY
Confirmation Class is held in January and February for youth in 8th grade and older to enable them to share, search, reach out and grow in their faith. The class is taught by our pastors. Covenant Partners, adult members who are active in the life of the congregation, are assigned to each Confirmand.
Youth Study - Sunday mornings from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. in the Upper Rooms. Middle School girls and boys meet together and are doing a New Testament survey "With All Boldness and Freedom," which ends in May.
FELLOWSHIP
- JHAZ (Junior High Action Zone) and FISH (Fellowship in Senior High) meet weekly on Sundays throughout the school year.
- Fall and Spring retreats provide opportunities for youth to grow in relationship with each other and with God.
- Youth officers, elected for the FISH Leadership Team in the fall, meet throughout the year to plan and implement youth activities in the areas of mission, fellowship, ministry, worship, and explorations.
- Youth Breakfasts are held on the first Sunday of each month during the school year, with menus chosen, created, prepared and served by the youth. A special breakfast is held in May honoring moms and special friends.
- Youth and Family Ski Trip is held in early February.
- Summer JHAZ and FISH is on Sundays, June - August.
- Youth, college students, families and friends gather in a church member’s home in December for dinner, fellowship and caroling.
SERVICE/MISSION
Ladue Chapel youth are involved in various mission and service projects:
- Collect money and canned foods for Souper Bowl of Caring held on Super Bowl Sunday;
- Habitat Mini-Blitz Build sponsored by the Mission Committee (for 16 years of age and older);
- Middle School Mission Trip to Mound Ridge Camp and Retreat Center in July;
- Senior High Mission Trip in July to a U.S. community in need of support. We travel to a different location each year.
- CROP Hunger Walk in October;
- Collect Thanksgiving food items and deliver to Hosea House families in November;
- Hosea House Giving Tree in November - Gifts are collected and delivered to the children tutored at Hosea House. Our youth help with a Christmas party and lunch for the children and their families in December.
- Christmas Breakfast Theater, hosted by our youth in December during the children’s Christmas pageant, is a fundraising event for the Senior High mission trip.
WORSHIP
- Serve as ushers, lectors, acolytes and musicians throughout the year
- Design baptism t-shirts for all children baptized at Ladue Chapel
- Bake communion bread
- Serve Ash Wednesday dinner
- High school graduates recognized in worship annually and given prayer journals, including personal messages from church and family
- Youth plan and lead worship in August, sharing summer mission experiences
MINISTRY WITHIN THE CONGREGATION
- Youth Deacon candidates, recommended in the fall, are trained and ordained to minister to the needs of our members. This may include responding with prayers, visits, phone calls, cards, flowers, meals, and other acts of love and support.
- Youth are given the opportunity to serve on the Mission, Youth Fellowship, Lector, and other committees of the church.
