Children's Music
Kindermusik
4 and 5 Year Olds
Kindermusik meets once a week in the Choir Room. Children have their own set of materials including notebook, Glockenspiel, and rhythm sticks. There is a fee for each child which covers the purchase of the curriculum. Special arrangements have been made so that children attending Ladue Chapel Nursery School may participate in Kindermusik. All children need to be pre registered, since there is a maximum number of ten children in the class. Kindermusik at Ladue Chapel is a natural stepping stone into our youngest choir, the Chorister Choir.  Click on the link below to go to the Kindermusik website.

Singing Choirs
Each choir rehearses once a week.

Chorister Choir
Kindergarten through Grade 2

This choir sings in worship about once every six weeks. However, the emphasis is on the child’s enjoyment of music, rather than simply a push to perform.  Membership is open to all children, Kindergarten through Grade 2. This choir is directed by Mrs. Gretchen H. Ross.

Alleluia Choir
Grades 3 through 6

For these boys and girls, the emphasis is on learning the fundamentals of music, enjoying music and serving the church.  This choir studies anthems, hymns and the basics of music. They share a two-day retreat in January. Besides fellowship and fun, they rehearse for a musical presented in the spring.

Youth Choir
Grades 7 through 12

This year plans are underway to learn and perform a musical in early spring. The practices for this group will be included with their regular youth fellowship programs.

Chancel Choir
For Post-High School Adults

This choir sings regularly each Sunday during the school year at the second service, except on Communion Sundays, when they sing both services.  Major choral works in the past have included Elijah and St. Paul by Mendelssohn, Mass in G by Schubert, Creation by Hayden, Rutter’s Requiem and Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria. Membership is open to adults who enjoy singing and fellowship opportunities.

Ringing Choirs

Genesis Ringers I
Grades 4 and 5

This is the youngest organized hand bell choir, so the emphasis is on the techniques of ringing. This choir, directed by Anne Peacock, with special assistance from the Carillon Ringers, will ring in worship regularly. Membership is limited to 12 ringers. Prior musical experience is not necessary.

Genesis Ringers II
Grades 6, 7 and 8
These youth ring four-octaves of Schulmerich Bells. They go on a retreat in September and ring in worship regularly. Membership is limited to 12 ringers.

Carillon Ringers
Grades 9 through 12

This choir for high school youth meets from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. They ring regularly in worship as well as special programs in the church community. Their year begins with a fall “Ring Out” where bells are assigned, music is handed out, and fun, fellowship and food are shared.  The year ends with an annual Ringer Tour to various parts of the United States.

The choir rings a six-octave set of Schulmerich Bells. Membership is limited to 16 ringers and requires prior ringing or musical experience.

Chapel Ringers
For Post-High School Adults

This group meets on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Membership is open to both men and women with a maximum of 15 people. These adults will ring in worship on various Sundays throughout the year. Rehearsals are held weekly, September through June.
