We continue our tradition of summer internships where young members of our congregation (rising high school seniors through college age), have the experience of serving in our community; primarily at agencies our mission dollars support.
Mission Interns are hired specifically to do mission work that makes a significant impact. Some of the areas in which our Interns are involved are listed below.
Food Outreach: this agency serves persons affected by AIDS and/or cancer. Our interns have served clients meals and helped in the “grocery store” where clients are given healthy food. Good nutrition is a main focus to facilitate the improvement of clients’ health.
UniPres Kindercottage provides daycare for babies through school age children and afterschool care and summer programs for children through 12 years old. Our interns play with the children and assist the teachers. The children love our interns!
Ladue Chapel Foodbank: the interns help drivers with the collection of food from local supermarkets and with organizing the food that is collected.
Isaiah 58 Ministries: the interns help organize the food pantry and clothing thrift store. It is a great way for them to see the “whole circle” of Foodbank – collecting from local supermarkets, preparing for agency pick up, organizing at the agency and then distribution to their clients. They see firsthand how it takes many in this process to provide the food for the hungry people in our midst.
Cornerstone: our interns assist teachers, play and help with artwork projects!
Hosea House: as this agency helps school aged children, our interns could “mentor” these children not only through tutoring help and artwork assistance, but simply by being themselves – a positive role model!
Third Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible Camp: our interns especially enjoy this program and working with these school aged children. It is a great opportunity for all to witness another church’s VBS program filled with activities, bible studies, field trips and music!
Ladue Chapel VBS: the interns support our own church’s VBS program by assisting staff and working/playing with the children
ReStore: the interns organize Habitat’s store by moving all types of rehab materials which ReStore sells to generate revenue to help with the Habitat building.
